Active in a number of civic boards and organizations, Lydon sees his new job as a natural opportunity to promote Buffalo. That is where the architect in him may get a chance to shine.
He hopes to play a lead role in the design of a new fire station that will be located on the East side within the next two years.
A study of response times and calls for service, he noted, will determine where the firehouse is built. ‘’We don’t like to get above three minute response times to any place in the City.
Formerly a fire lieutenant, Lydon helped design The Elmwood –Virginia Fire Station, which includes a tower and fancy brickwork to blend into the architecturally rich Allentown. The $2 million facility opened in 1997.
